About Dominique Dubois

Picture
Dominique DuBois is a multi-talented artist born and raised in Paris, France. Dominique credits her fashion-designer mother for her artistic roots.  In 1971, Dominique moved to Miami, where she lived for 30 years working as a full-time artist and teacher before coming to DeLand.

Dominique studied art with Miles Batt and other world-renowned artists at the Art Institute of Miami from 1973-1977. She was an active member of the Miami Art League from 1978-1990, and has taught monoprint at the Miami Art League.

Dominique conducts classes, workshop retreats, live sketching and more.

"For an artist, painting is a celebration of life that is limitless, extremely challenging and a completely meaningful experience," she says. "My inner growth and self-realization is totally bound to art. For 20 years my main focus was on gestural drawing. Capturing the motion, impulse, essence, the symbiosis between all things and what brings unity always intrigued me.

"In recent years, I have tried to incorporate this knowledge and moved from drawing to painting while being fascinated with light and depth.  Simultaneously, my range of subjects was refocused from the female form and portraits, to a much broader spectrum, including landscapes and flowers."

I like to move onto new discoveries ... different painting styles, all kinds of substrates paper to canvas, clothing to wood and metal.  Experiencing the boundless magic of life and attempting to render it with absolute honesty, brings a complete blessing to each day.
